Fresh enough to be at its best — not so fresh it tastes flat.
Here’s something most people don’t realise: coffee straight off the roaster isn’t ready to drink. Beans release CO₂ for days after roasting, and that gas masks the sweetness, body and clarity of the cup. Brew too soon and the coffee tastes thin and sharp — nothing like what the lot is capable of.
That’s why we roast in small, frequent batches based on stock, so every bag leaves the roastery well within its peak window. Orders are packed and dispatched within 24–48 hours, landing at your door right as the beans are opening up — usually 7–14 days post-roast for filter, a little longer for espresso.
Roast date is printed on every bag. Brew it at its peak, not before. -
Whole bean only. Coffee is at its best when ground just before brewing. That is when the
aroma, oils, and character are fully alive. Once ground, those qualities begin to fade within
minutes, no matter how well it is sealed.
We roast whole, and leave the final step to you. It is the simplest way to make sure the cup
you brew is the cup we intended. -
Sometimes. We work with small lots from smallholder farmers and experimental processes, so some coffees return seasonally, and some never do. If a coffee is important to you, it is worth ordering while it is here.
-
Keep it sealed in a cool, dark place, away from heat, light, and moisture. A pantry shelf
works well. Skip the refrigerator. Condensation and ambient odours will dull the cup.
The freezer is fine for longer storage, but only when done right. Keep the beans whole,
sealed completely airtight, and portioned in small amounts so the same bag is not opened
and resealed often. Let the beans come back to room temperature before you grind. That
prevents condensation settling on them. -
Coffee is a perishable product, so we cannot accept returns based on taste preference. If your order arrives damaged, expired, or different from what you ordered, we will replace it. See our Return Policy for full details.
