On Sunday, 30 August 2026, Bermito and Sukoru open the doors for Bean Curious — a hands-on introduction to specialty coffee at Sukoru Concept Store, Calicut. Three hours. No prior knowledge needed. Just curiosity.

If you've ever wondered what actually makes specialty coffee "specialty" — or you brew at home and want to understand what's happening in your cup — this workshop was made for you. It's part of a growing specialty coffee movement across Kerala and India, and it starts right here in Kozhikode.

What we'll cover

  1. The farm-to-cup journey — how a coffee cherry becomes the cup in your hands
  2. Roasting, simplified — light vs medium vs dark, and why it matters
  3. Hands-on brewing — pour over, French press and AeroPress. You brew it yourself.
  4. Species, origins & processing — arabica, robusta, and how washed vs natural processing shapes flavour

  • A full tasting flight of specialty coffees
  • Hands-on brewing across three methods
  • Take-home coffee, roasted at the Bermito roastery in Kozhikode
  • A beginner-friendly session led by a Licensed Q Grader
